Evolution of Seasonals - 20181025

LEGO has many themes and it is interesting how availability ranges from different stores. Recently we seen Architecture sets being sold at Toys R Us which was quite a surprise to me. Prior to this year, Architecture sets are only available at LCS or LEGO Monoshops, and are rarely discounted.

Currently, what we only see exclusively at LCS / Monoshops will be seasonals, modulars and IDEAS. And today's topic is Seasonals.

2013:

https://brickset.com/sets/40057-1/Fall-Scene

Back in 2013, this series started as polybags and portrays the four seasons and christmas. I still remember the time when these were on clearance at LLM. It was a crazy time.

2014:

Seasonals upgraded to become box sets. Instead of seasons, celebrated days were chosen. Valentine, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, 2x Christmas.
2015:

The interesting part about this series is that all the sets will come with a wall. The design is simple but yet elegant and interesting. Modified 1 x 2 with Masonry Profile (Brick Profile) is the part that ties all these sets together.

I had did a write-up on the linking one of the 2013 thanksgiving dinner to the thanksgiving dinner here. https://brickrek.blogspot.com/2015/10/whats-is-thanksgivings.html
2016:

2017:

https://brickset.com/sets/40262-1/Christmas-Train-Ride

For some reason, i'm always drawn to the amount of flower edge studs in this series. Especially Valentine set, we got bright green, bright light orange, dark pink, green, magenta, orange, red. short of blue spectrum and we'll have a rainbow~
2018:

https://brickset.com/sets/40272-1/Witch
https://brickset.com/sets/40273-1/Turkey

Some would say that 2018 is the year of the brickheadz. Since its premiere at SDCC 2016 and it's first launch in 2017, this series has been picking up steam at incredible pace. In 2018, we have the seasonals jumping on the bandwagon.
