Whats is thanksgivings? - 20151019

http://www.allabouthistory.org/meaning-of-thanksgiving.htm

Thanksgiving holds different meaning and different practices for different ppl.

Here in Singapore, we dont really celebrate thanksgiving, or rather, thanksgiving is merged together with Christmas. Which is also why we have turkey on our Christmas dinner. Yes we are a highly efficient ppl. I'm waiting for the day when the rice dumpling festival and mooncake festival will merge and restaurants will be selling moon-dumplings.

Today we will be looking at the 2 thanks giving set. 40056-1: Thanksgiving Feast (polybag) and 40123-1: Thanksgiving Feast (boxset).

Maybe its just me trying to be romantic, but i like to look at sets and perhaps imagine that there are clues and stories that the LEGO designers has hidden in the sets.

As we can see, the minifig looks similar but has perhaps aged. Whats more to give thanks for than the well-being and companionship of our other half? well, maybe the 2 cats has died... but that will be another story.

We can see that for the male minifig is almost exactly the same. Same Torso, same hairpiece but different colour, grey for the older man.

Based on the same concept, the female minifig also have grey hair for the older minifig and a change in hairstyle. Understandable, you dont expect a lady to maintain the same hairstyle for 50 years do you?

What about the torso? you might ask. different torso = different minifig. well, hear me out. this is a part where only a castle fan will know.
The torso for the younger female belongs to the Kingdoms Lion Princess.
The torso for the older female belongs to the Kingdom Lion Queen.
Here we see a change in status, the princess has grown to be became the queen.

So there you have it. a link between 2 sets. an aging couple. Thanksgiving has never been more meaningful
